JUNK BOND TRADER

4/4 time

piano intro:

Cm | G# | D# | F G#-A# | Cm | G# | D# | F G#-A#

-at the end of each "F" measure you'll notice "G#-A#". if you listen to
the song you'll pick
up on it -- the G# gets the 3rd beat of the measure, and the A# gets the
4th beat. this is the basic riff of the entire song...
-when the G#-A# comes around the second time the band enters and the
guitar plays this little
thing:

e--11\10-------------
B---------11---8--13-
G--------------------

then the guitar plays the riff twice:

   Cm G# D# F G#-A#
e----------------------------------------------------
B--4--4--------------------------------11\10---------
G--5--5--------------------------/8------------------
D--5--5--------------1-3-1--3p1----------------6-8---
A--3--3(clip)----1h3---------------------------6-8---
E----------------------------------------------4-6---
                           P.M. (palm mute)

(-"clip" means to strum the chord then mute it quickly.)

verse:

    Cm G# D# F
G# A#
e---------8-----|-----------4-----|---------6-----|-----6-5----------------
B-----8-----8---|-------4-----4---|-----8-----8---|----------------4/6--4--
G-------8-----8-|-----5---5-----5-|-------8-----8-|------------------------
D--10-----------|--\6-------------|-6/8-----------|-6/8--------------------
A---------------|-----------------|---------------|------------------------
E---------------|-----------------|---------------|------------------------

(verse 1 -- play verse tab 4x)
the imitation picks you up like a habit
writing in the glow of the tv's static
taking out the trash to the man
give the people something they understand
a stickman flashing a fine line smile
junk bond trader trying to sell a sucker a style
rick man in a poor man's clothes
the permanent installment of the daily dose

riff 2x

(verse 2)
and you tell off when you tell it like it is
your world's no wider than your hatred of his
checking into a small reality
boring as a drug you take too regularly
the athlete's laugh, the broken crutch
the first true love that folded at the slightest touch
brought down like an old hotel
people digging through the rubble for things they can resell

bridge:

  *C* (Bb/C C G# G)
e--8----------------------||
B--8----3------5----------||
G--9----3------5--5--4---.||
D--10---3------5--6--5---.||
A--10---3------3--6--5----||
E--8--------------4--3----||

(-the only guitar in the bridge is the C chord at the 8th fret which is
strummed 3 times and
below has stars around it (*C*). everything thing after that C chord are
the chords the piano plays.)

*C* Bb/C
happy holidays said sick savior
 C G# G
the leaving lover that i still favor
*C* Bb/C
i won't take your medicine, i don't need a remedy
 C G# G
to be everything i'm supposed to be
*C*
i don't want nobody else
Bb/C
i can do it by myself
C G# G
we're meant to be to-gether

e------8-------10/12--10--8--|--------6-----6------|
B--8-----8---8---------------|----6-----6------9-8-|
G----9-----9-----------------|------7-----7--------|
D----------------------------|-/8------------------|
A----------------------------|---------------------|
E----------------------------|---------------------|

e--------------------------------------------------
B---4------4-----4-----4------4------4---------------------
G-----5------5-----5-----5------5------5------------------
D---------------------------------------------------
A-3------6-----5-------------------6-------5---1-2---------
E--------------------6------4------------------------

while one guitar does that (well actually the guitar only plays the
notes on the B and G
strings while the orchestra plays the notes on the A and E strings)
another guitar plays
this:

B--16--18b20rb18---16--18b20rb18---16--18b20rb18----20rb18-16-------
G-------------------------------------------------------------17-17-

-listen to the song for rhythm and when it comes in -- it comes in when
the Bb note (6th
fret) is played on the low E string.

riff 1x, then play this riff variation: (a little weird but it works)

   Cm G# D# F G#-A#
e--------------------------------------------------------
B--4--4------------------------------------11\10---------
G--5--5-----------------3-1-3---------8------------------
D--5--5--------------1---------------/5-----------6-8----
A--3--3--(clip)--1h3------------------------------6-8----
E-------------------------------------------------4-6----

(verse 3 -- play verse tab 2x)
now i'm a policeman directing traffic
keeping everything moving, everything static
i'm the hitchhiker you'll recognize passing
on your way to some everlasting

(verse 4 -- play with verse tab and riff variation simultaneously)
better sell it while you can
better sell it while you can
better sell it while you can
better sell it while you can

end:
e----------------------------
B--4-6----4-6----4-6-----4---
G--5-7----5-7----5-7-----5---
D--6-8----6-8----6-8-----5---
A--6-8----6-8----6-8-----3---
E----------------------------
