Pretty (Ugly Before)
by Elliott Smith
Tabbed by Fred Dutton

Standard tuning, no capo.

This sounds about right but it might be a little bit out. The version I have
sounds like there are two guitars from the second verse onwards. I think one
plays the chords as in the first verse and the other plays C, D/F#, G etc.
but i could be, and probably am, wrong.

D*/G (3xx432)
D*/F# (2xx432)
C/G (332010)
D/F# (2xx232)
G (320033)
E (022100)
F (x33210)

Verse 1:
D*/G D*/F# D*/G
Sunshine been keeping me up for days

                  D*/F# D*/G
There is no night-time, only a passing phase

                  D*/F# D*/G E
And i feel pretty, pretty enough for you

   D*/G D*/F# F Am
I felt so ugly before, i didn't know what to do

Verse 2:
C/G D/F# G (Run)
Sometimes is all i feel up to now

     C/G D/F# G (Run)
But it's not worth it to you, cos you gotta get high somehow

     C/G D/F# G E
Is it destruction that you require to feel

     C/G D/F# F
That someone loves you, someone who's more for real

Solo (Errr... somebody else can figure this out)

Verse 3:

Sunshine's been keeping me up for days
There is no night-time, only a passing phase
And i feel pretty for another hour or two
I felt so ugly before, i didn't know what to do x3

Ugly before....
