tribute cd in october, archive.org, christopher o'reilly tribute cd + more

thanks to todd from sweet addy for posting info from billboard.com concerning an upcoming tribute record featuring artists and bands like sean croghan, the decemberists, the helio sequence, the thermals and many more. one of the highlights of the record will be sean croghan's cover of an unreleased elliott smith song called. 'high times.' as far as i know, elliott never played the song live either. here is todd with more info: "the decemberists ("clementine"), the helio sequence ("satellite"), the thermals ("ballad of big nothing"), dolorean ("the biggest lie") and lifesavas ("happiness") are among the acts confirmed to appear on an as-yet untitled tribute album to late singer/songwriter elliott smith. the set is due in the fall via the new label expunged to mark the two-year-anniversary of smith's death. also of note on the album is sean croghan's cover of "high times," a smith song that has never previously been released. other acts on the set include jeff trott, sexton blake, the society of people of ambience and elegance, amelia, swords, crosstide and telephone."

7 years of sweet adeline

july 11th is the day the site came online in 1998 and i just wanted to thank you all for everything, especially for being a part of keeping elliott's memory alive in many ways. your contributions and simple visits to the site means a lot to all of us who loved (we still do) elliott and i personally know it has a beautiful effect on elliott's family, loved ones, friends and fans. thank you for helping me and letting me be a part of something special for someone who was amazing, sweet and brilliant like elliott. i hope this goes on forever! xo charlie (7.11.05)


atlanta 'future butterflies' showing, either/or #34 in spin, & a blog

thanks to karla and everyone involved with the making of future butterflies, the elliott smith fan documentry that has been happening throughout the year (& last year), for letting us know about an upcoming showing of the atlanta, ga area contributions to the documentry. here is karla with more info: "i'm organizing a tribute and premiering the atlanta chapter of "future butterflies" next month, along with a music video i shot for my favourite elliott smith song two months ago as part of the tribute documentary. it's going to be called: "rose parade: an elliott smith tribute film & documentary." it'll be at the eyedrum here in atlanta on july 13th, 7:30 pm. local elliott fans snowden, hotel, eye!robotics, cannonwill, and trapper's cabin are going to be playing a show early on in the night to kick things off, and the video and documentary start at 9:00. people can e-mail me at karlajeandavis@yahoo.com if they have any questions." i hope its a good time for all and click on the poster to see a larger version!
